In 2013, Marie Unger joined Emergenetics International as Vice President of Education, and has since been named President of STEP, LLC (Student/Teacher Emergenetics Program). Previously, Marie was a teacher, school principal, Human Resource Director and Director of Elementary Education for Douglas County School District, the 3rd largest school district in the state of Colorado. Marie is also an Emergenetics® Master Associate.
Marie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Communications and an emphasis in Elementary Education. She obtained her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Education Administration. During her tenure as school principal, Marie’s schools received numerous honors and distinction from the State of Colorado for Outstanding Achievement and Academic growth. 5280 Magazine declared her school one of the Top Elementary schools in the state of Colorado.
In her leadership position within the education system, Marie successfully implemented STEP her school with her faculty and students. She then facilitated the program on a bigger scale for district leaders as a part of culture and team building, as well as for students as part of a Student Advocacy initiative.
Since joining STEP, LLC, Marie has conducted numerous seminars and certifications, bringing the energy of STEP Theory to hundreds of educators both nationally and internationally.
In her spare time, Marie enjoys spending time with her husband, Rich, and their two children, Brooke and Abby. Marie’s other hobbies include sports and exercise, as well as enjoying the beauty in her home state of Colorado.
