The STEP Difference
So What Makes STEP Different?
STEP is a unique tool for schools, as it advances a learning culture that starts with top administration and funnels through to individual students and hands-on learning. STEP provides a distinct value proposition for schools by:
- Linking Teacher and Student Development: STEP has been implemented in school settings for over 10 years and we have developed a best-practices approach by looking holistically at organizational and communication challenges with teachers and administrators and linking enhanced understanding on that level into a more refined and tailored teaching practices for the classroom.
- Resonating Across Diverse Populations: During its development, the STEP profile was subject to rigorous reliability testing to ensure its efficacy and accuracy for students in a wide age range (9-18) and across, gender, racial/ethnic and socioeconomic levels. It is a true measure of self-awareness and preference that has been used in schools throughout the world.
- Engendering a Culture of Understanding: Students take the STEP Profile in the context of a formal informational session delivered by a trained STEP Associate. This format ensures that the insights gained are more easily translated into daily life and reinforced through an interactive format. By highlighting (in STEP languaging) the different ways that people communicate, think, and learn, students develop an understanding and appreciation for those who are different.
- Improving Teacher Retention: Emergenetics is built on a workshop experience that provides an outlet for teachers to analyze their own ways of thinking and behaving and employ Emergenetics concepts to improve productivity and day-to-day interactions. The Emergenetics workshop also highlights the utility of teamwork and collaboration within the faculty community.
- Stimulating Classroom Learning: Teachers are empowered with innovative learning tools and techniques to improve their classroom dynamics by navigating discord and embracing each student’s unique talents and gifts.
- Providing Differentiated Learning: Students understand how they prefer to think and behave, process problems, interact with others, and, most importantly, learn. Teachers utilize Emergenetics concepts and the results of their students’ STEP Profiles to employ Emergenetics-driven differentiated instruction. Accordingly, teachers are equipped to increase classroom flexibility and the ability to appeal to unique students.
“Understanding oneself is the key in becoming a leader and Emergenetics is the foundation of that discovery process. With Emergenetics, you gain the knowledge of how you think and behave and how you approach work, and that becomes a bridge to understanding others and ultimately to becoming a stronger leader.”
- Kelvin Redd, Director, Center for Servant Leadership
